If you have a severely decayed or damaged tooth, chances are that you’ll need to pull the tooth to fully restore your oral health. So, to help you prepare for tooth extraction when you visit your dentist, Dr. Jorge Ferreira, our team has some tips for you.

The worst thing you can do on the day of your appointment is to be late, so make sure you call our office and confirm the time of your appointment. We also recommend confirming your travel plans. Please have someone drive you to and from your appointment because the dental sedative will not make it safe for you to drive.

For a smooth treatment, we recommend fasting 8-12 hours before your appointment. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before you come into our office. However, if you have a health condition that does not make this possible, please call our office and inform us of the situation.

If you ask your dentist for details about the extraction, you will know exactly what to expect and you’ll be able to use the time between appointments to prepare. Knowing what to expect might also help you feel more calm and relaxed rather than scared and nervous.

If you are prepared for your appointment, the extraction process will be easier than you think it will be. Just remember that you will have the care and support of our dental team at Sonrisa Dental if you ever need anything or if you have any questions about tooth extraction in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We also encourage you to call 505-455-2176 now if you need any help preparing for your appointment.
