Study links COVID-19 cases, deaths to vaccination rates

For anyone doubting how effective the COVID-19 vaccine is, we now have data that verifies higher COVID-19 vaccination rates means fewer COVID-19 cases & deaths. A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, published in The BMJ, linked US counties with higher COVID-19 vaccination rates to lower levels of COVID-19 cases and deaths, according to HealthDay News. The analysis included more than 30 million COVID-19 cases and more than 400,000 deaths from Dec ‘20-Dec ‘21. "The findings of this study also make clear that many more lives could have been saved, and will be saved, by encouraging people to keep up to date with vaccination in the face of waning immunity and new coronavirus variants and by achieving even higher population coverage," Christopher Dye, DPhil, a professor of epidemiology at the University of Oxford in the UK, wrote in an accompanying editorial.
